A PR director has revealed to sports headphones and waterproof iPod cases users how she has enjoyed building up her levels of fitness in preparation for a triathlon taking place this weekend.

Speaking to the Flintshire Chronicle, Kate Cox, co-owner and director of the de Winter communications agency, reveals that the process of getting in shape for the Deva Diva Triathlon has seen her change her lifestyle.

"Before I started I was completely unhealthy. But I have really enjoyed getting fit and have actually turned into a bit of a fitness geek," she states.

With the women's-only triathlon consisting of a 750m swim, a 16km bike ride and a 5km, the mum of three claims she only started training in earnest two months ago.

Ms Cox will be raising funds for Cheshire Young Carers - her company's charity of the year - and Saint Michael's Hospice.

Earlier this week, Hannah Young told the Henley Standard that she will swim for 5.5 miles in Coniston Water to raise money for the Sarah Matheson Trust for Multiple System Atrophy.

Sports headphones users 'need to work on stamina and speed in preparing for races'

Waterproof music news brought to you by H2o Audio - Amazing quality waterproof iPod cases

Those using headphones for running in preparation for races have been advised of the need to incorporate some endurance work into their training routine.

A Train Harder article notes that, regardless of what distance people compete for, it is important that they build up their stamina when out running, going longer than the distance covered in competition.

"Training in this way will improve your endurance and allow you to be more efficient when running in a race or an event," the publication claims.

But speed should also be a consideration for waterproof headphones and waterproof iPod cases users. Practicing quick bursts over shorter distance than they will run for can help them to "pick up the pace" in an event, for instance if they are approaching the finishing line or need to overtake an opponent.

Earlier this week, Becky Bellshaw told the Scottish Sun how she is progressively increasing the distance she runs for in the build-up to the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run half marathon taking place in September.

Could sports headphones users be inspired by Worcestershire pair's cycling feat?

Waterproof music news brought to you by H2o Audio - Amazing quality waterproof headphones

Two Worcestershire cyclists have revealed to sports headphones and waterproof iPod cases users how they have completed a gruelling charity challenging.

Speaking to the Bromsgrove Advertiser, Sam Eutalia and Tony Minton highlighted how they each travelled 250 miles over the course of two days, visiting eight LivingWell health clubs in the West Midlands.

The pair, both of whom are employed by the Hilton Hotel group, raised more than £2,000 for Chadsgrove School, a special school for children with physical disabilities, as part of the Hilton in the Community Foundation national charity event.

"It was very challenging, but we had a huge amount of support from people," Tony tells the publication.

Those wishing to follow in Tony and Sam's footsteps and don sweatproof headphones while taking part in fundraising challenges may be interested to note that Robert Moore and Richard Guest recently told the Droitwich Spa Advertiser they plan on cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End to raise money for the Noah Ark's Trust.

Two Worcestershire men have revealed to sweatproof headphones and waterproof iPhone cases users how they will put months of training work into action as they embark on a massive charity cycling challenge later this month.

Robert Moore and Richard Guest have told the Droitwich Spa Advertiser that they plan on cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End to raise money for the Noah Ark's Trust.

The pair plan to set off on July 26th, with the 874-mile trek predicted to take between ten and 14 days to complete.

"We have both run the London Marathon but this will be the first time we have taken to the bikes to attempt a challenge like this," Richard states.

And as he claims that the training for the challenge "has gone really well", those looking to follow in the pair's footsteps may wish to don headphones for sport when out cycling.

Meanwhile, more than 27,000 people took part in last month's 54-mile London to Brighton Bike Ride, raising funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Runner reveals attempts to extend distances ahead of half marathon

Waterproof music news brought to you by H2o Audio - Amazing quality waterproof headphones

In the build-up to taking part in the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run in September, Becky Bellshaw has revealed how she's progressively extending the distance she runs for.

Sweatproof headphones users may be interested to note the 23-year-old's comments to the Scottish Sun that she's trying to run for an additional each week as part of her preparation for the half marathon.

While she states she can quite comfortably run five miles in less than an hour, she's aware of the need to keep pushing herself.

"I'm spending all my time running now - something I never thought I'd do," she claims, adding she also started attending fitness sessions at the Bellahouston Sports Centre in order to tone up and build muscle.

Waterproof mobile phone cases and waterproof iPod cases users may also be interested to note Bucks Free Press journalists Rebecca Cain and Andy Carswell believe that training alongside one another in preparation for the Wycombe Half Marathon has helped to keep them both motivated.

Sports headphones users advised to keep hydrated to combat risk of DVT

Waterproof music news brought to you by H2o Audio - High quality waterproof MP3 player cases

Those who use sports headphones and waterproof mp3 player cases while taking part in events such as marathons and triathlons have been advised to be conscious of the threat that deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can cause.

A Montreal Gazette article notes that the likes of cyclists and runners who regular travel long distances to and from such events can be under particular risk of such clots.

"Don't blow it off. Young, fit and active people shouldn't take it for granted that they are at low risk for developing DVT," Fany Fallenbaum, a sports medicine physician for the McGill Sport Medicine Clinic, states.

Consequently, sweatproof headphones users may want to bear in mind the publication's advice that getting sufficient rehydration after exercise is "vital" and that people should attempt to stretch their legs on a regular basis while travelling.

Such guidance could be especially useful for Nathan Atkinson, who recently told the Yorkshire Evening Post he will compete in Tri-City-Athlon event this September - which consists of a 1,000 m swim, a 40 km bike ride and a 10 km run - each of which will take place in a different country.

Two journalists from the south of England have revealed to waterproof mp3 player cases and sports headphones users about their training programme for the Wycombe Half Marathon.

Rebecca Cain and Andy Carswell of the Bucks Free Press will be lining up among those who use headphones for running this Sunday (July 18th) to take part in the event.

"Neither of us has ever done anything like this before and we only started training in February - before then I couldn't walk to the shop at the end of my road without getting out of breath," Andy points out to the publication.

Rebecca adds that it has been good to train alongside a colleague as they have encouraged one another to keep going.

And with the pair both raising money for charity in the half marathon, they competed in the 10km Hay-on-Wye event last month as part of their preparations, with Rebecca coming in 99th place out of 160 competitors, while Andy was 123rd.

Last month, Julie Brogan, fundraising assistant for Prospect Hospice, urged those taking part in the Swindon Half Marathon on October 10th to do so in support of her charity.

Mum of two prepares for open-water swimming challenge

Waterproof music news brought to you by H2o Audio - Amazing quality waterproof headphones

A mother of two has revealed to underwater headphones and waterproof iPhone case users that she will take part in an open-water swim for charity this weekend.

Speaking to the Henley Standard, Hannah Young indicates that she will swim from one end of Coniston Water in the Lake District to the other on Sunday (July 18th) to raise money for the Sarah Matheson Trust for Multiple System Atrophy.

Overall, Mrs Young will swim for 5.5 miles, although she may be joined by her husband Paul, who in the past has participated in long-distance swimming events in support of the charity.

"I hope to complete it in around three hours, although it may take longer depending on how cold the lake is on the day," she states.

However, Mrs Young claims that although the temperature of the water is set to be around 14C, she will not wear a wetsuit and will only don her swimming costume, hat and goggles.

Earlier this month, the Darlington and Stockton Times revealed that Sheila Dick, Ann Hutchinson and Olwen Taylor, who are 71, 70 and 68 years of age respectively, swam a total of 1.5 miles at the Bedale Leisure Centre to raise money for charity.

Hairdresser tells sports headphones users about ironman training challenges

Waterproof music news brought to you by H2o Audio - High quality waterproof MP3 player cases

A Knutsford man has revealed the training routine he is undergoing as he prepares to take part in an ironman event next month.

Hairdresser Adrian Piggott indicates that the gruelling triathlon - which consists of a 4km swim, a 180km bike ride and a 42km run - will be the longest race he has ever competed in.

Speaking to the Knutsford Guardian, he points out that he is taking part in the event - which takes place on August 1st in Bolton - to raise money for Macmillans and the British Heart Foundation.

And those using sports headphones and underwater mp3 player cases may be interested to note Adrian is fitting around 15 hours of training in each week as well as working full-time.

"I won't be winning it or coming last - I am just doing it for personal satisfaction," he points out.

Earlier this month, Lawrence Dallaglio urged supporters of London Wasps - his former rugby team - to join him and take part in the Tri for Life triathlon in September.

NZ kitesurfer tells waterproof iPod cases users of Brazilian challenge

Waterproof music news brought to you by H2o Audio - Amazing quality waterproof iPod cases

Underwater iPod cases and waterproof mobile phone cases users may be interested to hear of one New Zealand kitesurfer's goal to travel 2,000 km along the Brazilian coast.

Speaking to the Dominion Post, Louis Tapper reveals he will attempt to kitesurf from Salvador in the north down to Sao Luis in the space of a month.

And as the publication notes the coast of Brazil is a popular destination for kitesurfers - which could include those who use underwater mp3 player cases - due to its strong winds, Louis is still expecting to encounter some challenging conditions.

"The trade winds don't blow as strong in the south and they can be quite fickle," the 36-year-old states.

Raising money for Surfaid, he will sleep on the beach as he makes his way along the coast.

Underwater headphones users may also find Morocco to be a great place to practice their kitesurfing skills. The BBC recently reported that the coastal town of Essaouira is popular not only among kitesurfers, but also with windsurfing and surfing enthusiasts.
